Have you ever sat down and listed 100 things to do before you die? I did, and one of those things was to graduate from College, even though I was a working adult. My legacy started with my grandparents who were both college graduates in the 1930's. After starting college several times I found my niche at Potomac College. With the support of my Cohort (46) my dream came true. On December 12, 2003 I became a third generation college graduate, earning a B.S. degree in Information Systems Management. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio. I attended The Ohio State University while living in Ohio. I married my high school sweetheart and we have two children. I work for the State Department as a Senior Systems Engineer, supporting the National Visa Office. I am an advocate of academic excellence and believe that we are students for life. I will continue to strive for personal and scholastic growth. My vision for the Potomac College Alumni Association (PCAA) is to achieve excellence through leadership. By engaging the alumni community in key issues, aligning our goals with the schools goals, and strengthening our partnership. While serving as President of the PCAA, I am committed to championing and supporting quality educational, professional and personal growth programs for the Potomac College Community". The magnitude of this endeavor speaks volumes to the commitment of the entire executive board to sustaining the Potomac College legacy. The willingness to be a part of this challenge provides the inspiration for all of us to renew our dedication to the future. I hope you will be compelled to support your alumni association. I welcome your comments, ideas, and hope that many of you will share your views and concerns. Please e-mail me at our alumni email address which is alumni@potomacalum.com. What’s on your list? |

With respect to education, I consider myself to be a late bloomer. After 25 years of working, which included a few academic courses, I saw an advertisement which said, "Potomac College for the working adult, complete your degree in as little as 18 months", I said, "David, they're talking to you!" It was the small cohort structured classes at P.C. that made me realize that I hadn't missed the opportunity to excel academically. I graduated from P.C. in 2003, with honors, I must add, with a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology. With this accomplishment at P.C. it gave me the confidence I needed to go on to complete a master's Degree in Information Technology Management from Central Michigan University. I have recently started the doctoral program with Capella University. I am also an adjunct professor for P.C. teaching in the area of Project Management and Information Technology. I work for the Small business Administration as a Program Management Analyst, in the Washington, D.C. area. As a certified project Manager and Information Technology expert, I manage special program initiatives and oversee the day-to-day IT operations for 69 Districts and 10 regional offices nationwide. I can be reach at dkimble@potomac.edu. |

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. I left home very soon after high school and joined the NAVY. I was eager to do so many things while on active duty. I traveled to so many place in the world during my tour and even served a term in Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield, all before the age of 21. After active duty, I started a family and attended a variety of schools which included the Commonwealth College in Hampton, VA., University of Arizona, Villanova University, NY Institute of Technologies' Ellis School of Business as a MBA candidate and graduated from Potomac College in 2003 with a BS Degree in Information Systems Management. Potomac College has really contributed to enhancing some of what I consider "Life-Victories" for myself. As the Helpdesk Operations Manager of the Federal Aviation Administration in Washington, DC, Potomac's curriculum and style has made it less challenging in creating and producing deliverables and establishing policies and procedures and assisting in establishing the FAA's Washington DC region as one of the premier support desk in the entire FAA. In addition to running a technical support group, I also volunteer in coaching elementary to middle school aged children in football and basketball in Howard Country. |
